Hampton Court Palace is a Scheduled Ancient Monument, as well as being a Grade I Listed Building. All Historic Royal Palaces are owned by the Queen ‘in right of Crown’. It is one of England’s most popular and iconic Royal residences, attracting over half a million visitors a year from all over the world. Its most infamous residents were Henry VIII and his six wives.
Kinnersley Kent Design was commissioned to create a shopping experience to engage visitors, celebrate the rich history of the Palace and to ultimately improve sales. Our brief was to draw in more customers, increase their dwell time, improve flow and enhance their Hampton Court Palace experience.
Our retail concept balances history with an innovative twist. The shop was originally built in 1689 as two separate structures, a Cavalry Barracks to the west and a Foot Guards Barracks to the east. The design of the museum shop and entrance areas is in keeping with the Palace’s rich history and celebrates this heritage through story telling. The welcome sign, for example, is made out of horse shoes and fun historical facts are embedded into the floor.
We created points of interest for to the customer and improved and increased customer flow through the Royal Palace.
