Mary's Living & Giving

A concept for Mary Portas' charity shop for Save the Children, exploring one of the most quirky past-times resulting from Wandsworth’s industrial past.

The theme of the store was based on a deconstructed hot air balloon. Hot air balloons frequented the local gas works where very cheap gas could be bought before each voyage.

Mary’s Living & Giving Shops for Save the Children were established in 2009 from a philosophy created for Save the Children by retail expert, Mary Portas. But they go much deeper than just shopping.

Run by local people for local people, Mary’s Living & Giving Shops are a collaboration of people’s ideas, values and beliefs. They are community hubs. They are where you can come to find inspiration, share a bit of local news, a skill, the time of day.
